Meet Matt Hovanetz
Matt was recently brought into Caspers Company as an assistant controller in our accounting department, same as Gail Wang. Before joining Caspers Matt was the controller for Dental Care Alliance. DCA is one of the largest dental support organizations in the country with more than 260 affiliated practices in 13 states and encompassing all facets of dentistry.
As an assistant controller in Caspers’ accounting department, he works closely with the entire accounting team to ensure they are supporting field operations at the highest level. This entails paying bills timely, processing payrolls, reviewing trends in financial performance to help identify opportunities. He also works closely with our area supervisors to analyze variances and fluctuations compared to expected results. At the end of every month we work diligently to close the books as quickly as possible in order to provide leadership with financial statements. We also provide analysis of our performance and trends in key metrics so they can make business decisions with timely and accurate information.
Matt is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. He said, “I’m rooting for the Indians to win a World Series, the Cavs to win another championship, and the Browns to win one game this season!" Matt has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cleveland State University with a major in marketing and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Florida with a major in accounting. He also has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 2013.
For hobbies and fun things to do Matt said, “I spend a great deal of my free time coaching or playing hockey. I’m an assistant coach for the Tampa Bay Jr. Bulls 8U travel program and a head coach in the Brandon recreational league 10U. Recently I completed my Level II USA Hockey Coaching Certification. If you’ve spent any time with me you probably know all this… because I don’t shut up about it!” Matt has been married to his wife Elise for the past 12 years. He said, “We have two kids: Jack is seven years old ("he’s a great kid") and Grace is two years old ("she’s a monster”)."
When asked what he was looking forward to most about working at Caspers, Matt said, “What attracted me to Caspers is the company culture. After being here for six months it’s clear the culture we have starts at the top and is reverberated through all levels of the company. As Caspers grows and expands I look forward to growing with it.”
